Anoushka Shankar
Anoushka Shankar is a Brit-American sitar player and music artist. She received the British House of Commons' Shield in the year of her youngest and first female recipient. Apart from the nine Grammy awards and nine Grammy nominations, she also became the first Indian-born musician to be a presenter and performer during the ceremony live. Anoushka Sitar Shankar is the Indian young sitar singer. She is a student and daughter to Ravi Shankar. She was born in 1982 in London. Her childhood years were split between London and New Delhi. When she was only 13 when her first performance in New Delhi took place. After that, she moved into Encinitas CA where she graduated from High School with honours in 1999. The career of Anouskha as a musician and performer is impressive, despite her youth. She has performed with her father on stage for several years. She has released Anourag her first solo album in 1998. In 2002, she released her Grammy nominated album Live At Carnegie Hall. She's performed in all important venues across the world. Anoushka isn't only a singer. Bapi: The love of My Live is her 2002 memoir, that was a tribute to Ravi Shankar. In 2003, she appeared as an Bharat Natyam dancer in Dance Like a Man. Anoushka continues to grow on her path and will surely be new things that will be coming from this talented woman. Anoushka Shankar is an English native who lived her early years between London, Delhi and California. Anoushka Shankar began her musical studies at the age of nine. Four years later she performed her music debut with the sitar Delhi for her father's 70th birthday party. Anoushka was able to gain a great deal of knowledge by traveling the world with her father. She played in Carnegie Hall in her teenage years, and recorded at George Harrison's WOMAD Festival. It is the House of Commons Shield was awarded an award by the British Parliament in recognition of being the pre-eminent Asian Arts musician. She is the sole female and is the smallest recipient of this distinction.
